Think before you speak!

If you knew me, you’d know that often get myself into trouble. Not the bad kind of trouble (well, at least I’m not sharing that one) more the embarrassing kind. It’s not for nothing that ‘you’re such a Spaz’ is more often heard than my real name.

Since I don’t really know what to write today, I thought I’d share this prime example.

Every morning I walk up University Avenue on my way to work. This one morning, I notice that a guy in front of me reached into his back pant pocket to pull something out. While he was doing that, something else dropped to the ground.

He didn’t notice and kept walking. Me, right behind him and nice as always ( ;-) ) bend down to pick it up, meanwhile I say “Sorry, you dropped something!”.

Picture this in slow motion.

As I am bending down with one hand reaching out to the ground and the guy slowly turning around to see what he dropped, I realize what it is.

A packaged condom.

Already too far into the process, I have no choice but to pick it up, by this time the young man (cute looking too) figures it out to. I stand up straight again and strech out my hand with the condom in it towards him trying to look as if this was the most normal thing to happen.

He tries to smile between feeling a little uncomfortable and says: “now that’s embarrassing”.

THE END!

Well, not quite. Since this is me we are dealing with, I feel I have to put this poor guy at ease and respond:

“Oh – no worries, happens to me all the time.”

  11. Isnt it wonderful that we can laugh at ourselves? Loved this,I suppose why we laugh is because we can see ourselves doing that sort of thing. I certainly not only put my foot in my mouth many times but I have found myself in some mighty embarassing situations. Thanks for sharing.

Yes one has to, especially being me :-) . Thanks for commenting.
