Making my day, everyday

I finally did it,
Just as I had
Practiced silently
So many mornings.

I finally stopped,
In front of you,
Finally said:
“Excuse me’.

I finally know
The colour of your eyes,
Making sure,
I really spoke to you.

And finally you,
The garbage picker upper,
Have heard me
Share my thoughts.

“I just needed to say
Thank you,
For keeping this park
As beautiful as it is.
Every morning
I walk through here,
Falling in love with life
All over again
As I walk
Below the trees
Around the flowers,
That you so diligently keep,
So thank you
For making sure
Something has made me smile
Way before my workday starts.”

  1. Heart warming :)

Thank you and thank you for returning so diligently Shyma.

  2. And Im sure the garbage picker upper really appreciated that, too.

You’d have to ask her,….. strangely I haven’t seen her since.

  3. this made me smile … lovely gratitude … xox

Spaz likes smiles….. my own but especially the ones of others…. thank you.

  4. Un bello canto a la vida, a la naturaleza y a la paz interior. Me encantó.

Gracias. ‘Canto a la vida’ – si, el canto viene de los arboles y se queda en el aire que respiro.

  5. So many times I see people on the side of the road, cleaning up, just doing their job and i want to say “Thank You”

But I’ve yet to do it.
    I guess I’m afraid they’ll think I’m crazy.
I’m an expat and maybe they’ll think my American English is strange.
Maybe they will think I’m saying something totally different from what I mean…

    In any case,
it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who thinks of thanking “The garbage picker upper”

    Next time I see one…I’ll think twice…

I think i know what you are talking about, I passed through that park many times thinking to say something before I actually did. Strangely enough that evil inner voice (‘they’ll think you’re weird’, ‘they might call security’, ‘she might be hearing impaired or doesn’t speak english and that what are you going to do then?’) kept bugging me. But – I was determined and so I just relaxed and waited for when I was ready. Luckily that time, it wasn’t too late.

  6. Aw Spaz,
You’re such a sweetie. I’m sure the lady appreciated that. And even if she didn’t – the park did.
    WC

I haven’t been through that way in a while and today I passed there again and saw her working. It’s somehting about how she works too. I think I if she wasn’t there something would be missing, it’s almost as if she fits right in with the squirells and the birds.

  7. Spaz…you made someone’s day just as they made yours…a little brighter. And mine too. Sweet thoughts. Ali

Hey Ali, yes, on second thought I should have probably been a spot light! (Sorry, stupid comment but I couldn’t resist, must be the home made Sangria I was sipping earlier ;-) ).

  8. This was so sweet.

Thanks Kim, glad you liked it.
