Sinking heart

I saw your heart sinking
down the well of your eyes
until the sunlight couldn’t reach it no more.

I wish I could have caught it,
gently with my warming hands
but your love just ran through my fingers.

It’s up to you now, to bring it up again,
from a place where no one else can reach,
and until you do, I’ll be standing next to you.

Just like you did, many years back,
remember, when I didn’t want to laugh anymore?
And just like you, I won’t worry – cause I know you.
